Speaker
Dr. Dan Summerlin accepted God’s call to be the senior pastor at Lone Oak First Baptist Church in August 2001. Having grown up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduating from The University of Alabama with a Bachelors of Science in psychology, Bro. Dan still holds high esteem for his alma mater’s football team and is known to wear red ties during football season (“Roll Tide!”).
After receiving his call to full-time professional ministry, he went on to obtain two more degrees both from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Theology. Before his arrival to Lone Oak FBC, Bro. Dan worked in several ministry positions, as well as, served as pastor in three churches in Mississippi and Alabama.
Bro. Dan’s heart for the Word of God and missions is seen through his leadership, not only at Lone Oak First Baptist Church, but also by serving on several committees and executive positions of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC), and in regional associations.
“I love teaching and preaching God’s Word and helping people reach their God-given potential. I love seeing the local church reach out and make a difference for Christ in the world.” Along with learning strange trivia to use as examples in sermons and teaching sessions, Bro. Dan also enjoys reading, Alabama football, traveling, family time, and weight lifting/kettlebell training. Married to his high school sweetheart, Eileen, they have two grown children, James and Jenna, and two grandchildren; Roman and Hadley.
