About

My name is Mike James, and I serve as South Central Strategist and Discipleship/Assimilation Coordinator for the Kentucky Baptist Convention. I try to help churches grow and become healthy thus being more effective in reaching people for Jesus Christ. I preach across the state and do lots of training events.

I’ve been married to my wife Kathy for 35 years.  We have one son, Michael who is 20.

I am from Stanford, Kentucky.  I earned a B.A. degree from Eastern Kentucky University, a Masters degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and received Doctor of Ministry degree from Regent University in 1998.

I have served churches in Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky and led numerous conferences on discipleship, Sunday School, church growth, and marriage as well as led numerous revivals.

My passion is to see people come to Christ and grow in their faith. I believe Christians today should be excited about their faith, deepening their walk with Christ, and engaging this culture with the Gospel. I have consulted numerous churches to help them be balanced and to develop a strategy to reach and disciple more people.

My hobbies include guitar playing, fishing, running, traveling, spending time with my family and riding “Visitation,” my motorcycle. (That way, when people ask Kathy where I’m at and she can say, “He’s out on Visitation!”)
